Here We Go is a special 7-inch vinyl EP by The Beatles, featuring three historic BBC radio performances from October 26, 1962. These recordings capture John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr at the very beginning of their recording career, shortly before the group achieved international fame.
The performances originate from the BBC radio programme Here We Go, on which The Beatles appeared several times between March 1962 and March 1963. Unfortunately, the BBC's original master tapes were subsequently discarded, making these early performances extremely difficult to hear for many years.
For this release, the recordings were carefully restored from a surviving domestic tape recording, preserving a rare and important piece of Beatles history.
The recordings are especially significant because they document one of the earliest radio appearances by The Beatles with Ringo Starr on drums. Having joined the group in August 1962, Ringo made his radio debut with the band during this broadcast.
The EP opens with Love Me Do, The Beatles' first official British single, originally released on October 5, 1962. Its distinctive harmonica, rhythmic guitar accompaniment and memorable vocal harmonies capture the band's developing sound.
Next is A Taste Of Honey, a song The Beatles would also record for their 1963 debut album Please Please Me. The performance demonstrates the band's early versatility, combining melodic vocals with carefully arranged harmonies.
The B-side features P.S. I Love You, originally released as the flip side of Love Me Do. This early Lennon-McCartney composition showcases the duo's developing songwriting abilities through its warm melody and romantic lyrics.
Together, these three performances provide a fascinating insight into The Beatles as a young and ambitious beat group. The recordings capture the spontaneous energy and musical chemistry that the band developed through its performances in Liverpool, Hamburg and on British radio.
Here We Go was released by Top Sounds as a limited edition of only 500 copies. The record comes in an attractive front-laminated flipback sleeve inspired by classic Beatles EP packaging from the 1960s.
The edition also includes an eight-page booklet containing background information about these rare recordings.
A wonderful collector's release for fans of The Beatles, Merseybeat, British sixties music, early rock-'n-roll and historic BBC radio performances.
