Product information
An original 1953 Seeburg Model G jukebox, imported directly from the United States and offered in the condition in which we acquired it.
This is a genuine unrestored restoration project for the enthusiast who wants to bring an original American jukebox back to life.
The jukebox is in used, original condition and requires a complete restoration. It appears to be largely complete, although, as far as we can determine, the upper rear door is missing.
Its technical condition is unknown. We have not tested the machine, and it is still configured for 110V American power, exactly as it arrived from the USA, unless specifically stated otherwise at the time of sale.
Classic Seeburg styling from the 1950s
The Model G represents everything that makes an early-1950s Seeburg so appealing.
Its huge curved glass dome gives a wonderful view of the famous record mechanism. Chrome trim, red selection buttons and the distinctive light-blue mechanism create the unmistakable appearance of an original American fifties jukebox.
The glass still carries the characteristic “De Luxe High Fidelity” and “Seeburg Select-O-Matic 100” markings.
This is not a reproduction and it has not already been cosmetically restored. It is an authentic old machine waiting for a new owner to decide exactly how far the restoration should go.
100 selections – 50 records
The Model G uses Seeburg's famous Select-O-Matic 100 system.
It holds 50 45 RPM records, with both sides of each single available for selection, providing a total of 100 song selections.
Songs are selected using the characteristic letter and number buttons across the front of the jukebox.
Once properly restored, the visible mechanism is a major part of the experience: the machine locates the selected record and plays it while the mechanism remains visible through the large curved glass cabinet.
It is mechanical jukebox theatre at its best.
The Happy Days connection
For many collectors, this style of Seeburg is closely associated with classic American diner and rock-'n-roll culture.
The Seeburg Model G is particularly well known for its appearance in the television series Happy Days, where the jukebox formed part of the iconic 1950s diner setting.
This connection makes the Model G especially appealing not only to jukebox collectors, but also to enthusiasts of American pop culture, diners, rock 'n' roll and vintage Americana.
Imported from the USA – The Dutch Pickers
This jukebox was imported directly from the United States by Bennies Fifties.
Several times a year we travel through America under the name The Dutch Pickers, searching for original jukeboxes and other interesting pieces of Americana to bring back to Europe.
While some machines are restored, others are deliberately offered exactly as they arrived from the USA. This gives collectors and enthusiasts the opportunity to carry out their own restoration.
This Model G is one of those machines: a genuine restoration project.
Condition – complete restoration required
Please understand the condition before purchasing: this is not a ready-to-play jukebox.
The machine is unrestored and shows considerable age and use consistent with a jukebox that has survived for more than seven decades. Expect dirt, oxidation, discoloration, wear and cosmetic imperfections to the cabinet, chrome, interior and technical components.
From what we can see, the machine appears largely complete, with the exception of the missing upper rear door. However, we have not carried out a complete component-by-component inventory, so we cannot guarantee that every small component is present or original.
Please study all photographs carefully. What you see is what you get.
Unknown operation – untested – still 110V
The operating condition of this Seeburg is unknown.
We have deliberately not powered up or tested the jukebox. It is still in its original American 110V configuration, and an unrestored electrical machine of this age should be properly inspected before power is applied.
A full mechanical and electrical inspection and restoration should therefore be expected before the jukebox is returned to service.
The tube amplifier and various original components can be seen in the photographs, but their operation has not been tested.
